With a trip to the state finals at Navy Stadium on the line, the Quince Orchard Cougars hosted the Broadneck Bruins for a high-powered showdown. Both teams entered the playoffs as the number one seeds on their respective sides, making this game a highly anticipated matchup. In the end, it would be the Cougars to continue their run to Navy after a huge shutout 35-0 victory.
The game started hot after a near fight between a QO and a Broadneck player on the opening kickoff. The tempers would continue to flare throughout the game with,h personal fouls on both teams and a player getting ejected later on. The Cougar special teams extended their hot streak of forced fumbles with another one after a 3-and-out drive, setting up a Will Drakeford scramble touchdown to give QO an early 7-0 lead.

Following early success from both the offense and special teams units, the defense would follow with a 3-and-out drive, which was highlighted by a Jaheim Bond sack. Bond followed up the play with a 65-yard rush on the following drive, which was capped off by getting into the endzone to give QO a 14-0 lead.
The very next kickoff featured another fight between the two teams after a late block in the back during the return. Broadneck would once again run into punt-return problems after a second fumble. QO once again capitalized on the opportunity, with Bond getting his second rushing touchdown of the day to give QO a 21-point lead. Despite the touchdown numbers for Bond, running back Damian Hurtado was getting the bulk of the carries outside the red zone.

The cougar defense remained relentless as halftime approached, with Bond getting his second sack and Sophomore Urijah Lyles getting one for himself. Bond added a tackle for loss later in the contest. Alongside the defensive line, the linebackers also had a very strong day. Senior Owen Hall had multiple tackles for losses, and Jake Bumgardner had an interception early in the second quarter.
After a brief halftime, the cougars picked up right where they left off. Senior Kacey Gilliam recorded QOโs fourth sack. On the same drive, Ryan Drakeford would come down with an interception of his own. Defensive back is new for him, as he has previously played receiver. The turnover set up a Rafferty Bankert touchdown from Will Drakeford. QO would finish by rushing one more in with Damian Hurtado to set a final score of 35-0, a dominant and tone-setting win with state championships rapidly approaching.

Quince Orchard now enters a massive week with a chance to win their second straight state championship and fourth in five years. They will face the Wise Panthers, who beat Churchill 45-7 on Friday. This game is a rematch of last year, which ended in a 24-13 QO victory.
