Why Are You Running For Office?
To serve my community! My entire career has prioritized public service. I raised my right hand and joined the U.S. Army at age 18, serving on Active Duty as a Judge Advocate (with continued service in the reserves), followed by a long career as a Federal Civilian with the U.S. Army and Government Accountability Office. Currently, I have the honor of serving the residents of Gaithersburg as their Council Member. It would be my honor to represent the residents of District 39 in Annapolis as a continuation of my desire to serve.
What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?
Making Maryland more affordable. In Gaithersburg, for example, housing affordability and access to affordable housing is probably one of the most prevalent issues we are grappling with. I am proud that my colleagues and I have prioritized various initiatives to address housing costs and making housing more secure, such as renter protections, making land use more responsive to evolving community needs, and building affordable housing in dynamic communities that anchor the entire area, including District 39. I am particularly proud of the diverse housing options we approved in the new Lake Forest District, which will be game changing for the entire area! I will bring a common-sense approach to Annapolis focused on finding ways to make it easier to live, work, play and stay in Maryland.
What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?
Three-term Council Member in the City of Gaithersburg; Army Officer; invested in the community and a parent of two awesome kids taking advantage of Montgomery Countyโs excellent public education. All of this gives me perspective to advance common-sense solutions in Annapolis.
What Would You Like Voters To Know About You Personally?
