For those that don’t know, the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department was victim of a scammer that stole $220,000 from the non profit organization. With quick action and the help of their bank, they were able to recover half immediately, but have been raising money for the rest.
Today, the department along with a representative from the City of Rockville was presented with Giuseppi’s Pizza’s Fundraising check. Giuseppi’s raised $500 from two fundraisers and then matched that for a total of $1000 that was presented to Chief Lazar and on duty volunteers.
According to Rockville City Councilmember Adam Van Grack, the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department is just $48,367 away from full recovery.
