Why Are You Running For Office?
I’m running for Montgomery County Council At-Large because I’ve seen firsthand what our communities need and what’s missing.
Through my work building and leading youth sports programs, I’ve supported over 1,000 young people from diverse backgrounds, including immigrant, African American, Asian, and Hispanic communities. I’ve coached, organized programs, and created safe spaces where kids can learn discipline, teamwork, and leadership through sports like cricket and soccer. I’ve also worked directly with families facing economic challenges, school access issues, and limited resources.
But I’ve also seen another important reality: our seniors are often overlooked. Many are living on fixed incomes, facing rising costs, transportation challenges, and isolation. They deserve stronger support systems, better access to services, and more opportunities to stay active and connected in the community.
That experience showed me something clearly: both our youth and our seniors are not being fully served or represented.
I’m running because I want to bring real, lived experience into decision-making especially around youth development, education, senior services, public safety, and community investment. I know what it’s like to build programs from the ground up with limited resources, and I understand how much impact strong local support can make at every stage of life.
This campaign is about making Montgomery County more fair, more connected, and more responsive to everyone who calls it home.
What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?
The biggest issue facing voters in this race is affordability and the overall cost of living in Montgomery County.
People are feeling it in different ways rent and housing prices are too high, property taxes keep rising, childcare is expensive, and even basic needs like groceries and transportation are becoming harder to manage. For working families, seniors on fixed incomes, and young people trying to stay in the county, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to afford to live here.
At the same time, there’s a strong concern about making sure that public services actually match what people are paying for better schools, safer communities, accessible transportation, and stronger support systems for both youth and seniors.
So at its core, this race is about whether Montgomery County can remain a place where people from all backgrounds can afford to live, stay, and thrive not just survive.
What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?
What best prepares me for this role is my hands-on experience building programs from the ground up and working directly with the communities I want to represent.
I founded and led youth sports initiatives where I’ve managed over 1,000 young participants from diverse backgrounds, including immigrant, African American, Asian, and Hispanic communities. I didn’t just organize games.I built structure, secured partnerships, coordinated volunteers, and created safe spaces where young people could develop discipline, leadership, and confidence through sports like cricket and soccer.
I’ve also worked closely with families facing real challenges limited resources, school access issues, and lack of community support and helped connect them to opportunities and services.
Just as importantly, I’ve seen the needs of seniors in our county especially around affordability, transportation, healthcare access, and isolation and understand how often they are left out of decision-making.
That combination of grassroots leadership, program development, and direct community engagement has prepared me to understand real problems on the ground and work toward practical, results-driven solutions at the county level.
What Would You Like Voters To Know About You Personally?
What I’d like voters to know about me personally is that my focus has always been on service, consistency, and creating opportunities for others.
Through the work I’ve done in the community, I’ve helped build programs where 96% of the students involved are on the Honor Roll, reflecting the strong academic culture and support systems we’ve created around youth development.
I’ve also been recognized for this work with the Montgomery County Unsung Hero Award and an honor from the Baltimore Orioles, which highlighted the impact of the programs and the positive difference they’ve made for young people and families in our community.
At the core, I’m someone who believes in showing up, building things from the ground up, and making sure young people have the structure and support they need to succeed not just in sports, but in school and life.
