Why Are You Running For Office?
I’ve lived in Montgomery County my whole life. Our economy is not growing fast enough to keep up with our spending. I want to make it easier for businesses to start, operate, and grow in Montgomery County. That will give us more money for all the programs and resources like schools, infrastructure, taking care of our seniors, and funding for our parks, libraries, and rec centers.
What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?
Affordability is a problem across the country, but especially in Montgomery County where the average home is over $600k and many renters spend a third to half their income on rent. We need numerous economic development changes, including making it easier for our small businesses to start and grow. This is done by simplifying our permitting and inspection process.
What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?
My background and career are not the best experience for this job. For over 20 years, I worked in local and national sports talk radio. But over the last 10 years, I’ve gotten a lot more involved in Montgomery County civic, community, and nonprofit groups. I’m a member of the board of directors of the Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame, the Library Board, the Sports Advisory Committee, my local civic association, and several nonprofits.
What Would You Like Voters To Know About You Personally?
I’m not a politician. I’m just an average middle class person trying to give back to his community. I’m a quick learner, a hard worker, and over the last few years I’ve gotten to know a lot about county government – the people and how it works. I love dogs, country music, and old TV shows like I Love Lucy and Mash.
