Why Are You Running For Office?
For the first time in the 250 years of American history, a 25-year old today isn’t as doing as well as their parents when they were 25. You don’t have to look further than the cost of housing, higher education or healthcare for this to be paintfully obvious. The Preamble to the Consitution says we can “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves AND our posperity” but we are failing the next generation. Democracies atrophy when people don’t have hope in a better future. I want to serve on the County Council to have an impact on people’s ability to afford to live in Montgomery County so they’ll believe once again that our future will be brighter than our past.
What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?
Are we OK with things the way they are or do we want to make changes to have something better.
What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?
There are 17 people running for the County Council At-Large. Our family has as many kids in the public schools right now as the other 16… combined. That’s in addition to being a substitute teacher. The bedrock of Montgomery County’s brand and half of our spending is tied to our schools.Having a depth of experience is vital for a Council where almost half the members will be new. Serving on the Montgomery Parks Foundation, Boards of Directors for the YMCA of Silver Spring, Workforce Development, Bethesda Chamber of Commerce and Chairing the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board and the Montgomery County Democratic Party is a competitive advantage in knowing how our county works.
What Would You Like Voters To Know About You Personally?
In my spare time, I enjoy playing no limit Texas Hold ’em poker, camping nowhere near civilization and figuring out what my next tattoo is going to be. I live in Silver Spring with my wife of 17 years, our 2 children, and 2 cats.
