Questions & Responses (All Candidates)

1 – What lessons learned do you have since the start of the pandemic?

Some things that helped us recover from the pandemic, such as the isolating ourselves, also hurt the mental health of our nation.  We need some corresponding action to treat this consequence.

2 – If you could go back and do one thing differently from what was done in the last two years in Montgomery County what would you change?

I would encourage more MCPS students to return to in-person learning.  I would find a way to reach out to the students who did not sign-in to their chrome books during the period where all students were virtual.

3 – What do you think are the 3 biggest and most pressing issues facing our county in the next 4 years? Why?

1) Business and Economic Development

2) Hire more teachers and pay them more

3) Affordable Housing – Please see the Montgomery County Economic Development Strategic Plan 2021-2025. Higher paying jobs and increased tax base are needed to attack these issues as well as the appropriate legislation.

4 – What specifically do you plan to do in the 3 most pressing areas from Question 3?

1) Propose legislation and support legislation that pays teachers more

2) Push to build more houses increasing the supply of homes

3) Build relationships with the business community and make our county more attractive and fertile for businesses.

5 – Would you consider supporting changes to electoral process such as open primaries or non-partisan elections in Montgomery County to allow 155,000+ registered Unaffiliated/Independents in Montgomery County to vote locally when it counts?

I support every voter being able to vote.
