Some of our readers reached out to us this week saying that people were taking down fences near the entrance at the former Potomac Horse Center location and they have had construction crews on site. We reached out to Montgomery Parks about the current status and future uses of this site.
A representative of Montgomery Parks told us that they are preparing the winterize the site by “removing the interior fencing, jumps, and cleaning up the landscape” and are planning to demolish buildings that are beyond repair (probably in spring 2025).
“The property remains open to the public (except for the buildings), with parking available for access to the Muddy Branch Greenway Trail,” the representative said in their response. “It’s not immediate, but we will be looking at what kind of park use would be best for that property in the future.”
We will continue to keep an eye on this going forward and hope to involve the community to make sure that the park is used to benefit residents as it is a prime location for lots of potential uses and a big part of many people’s lives.
