Why Are You Running For Office?
I believe in the future of this community and country and I know that the Democratic Party is one of the most powerful tools we have to promote positive change. I believe in a strong, diverse, big-tent party that stands for improving the lives of all people and lives its values daily. Having served for the last 5 years, I know that I have the administrative and outreach skills to build a stronger and more inclusive Democratic Party.
What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?
In this particular race, it is two things: First, building a party that is present in the community and listens to voters. We need to show up at community events, knock on doors, and organize listening sessions to hear directly from those who we have ignored previously or who feel disillusioned with politics.Second, reforming the appointments process so that voters of a district decide who represents them. I am proud to have testified twice for the partial special elections bill that just passed the Maryland General Assembly and to have authored reforms that the MCDCC adopted to make our process more inclusive and transparent.
What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?
I have served on the MCDCC for the past 5 years and was, before that, a precinct official. I still lead the Germantown Democratic Club and organize in the UpCounty to drive up turnout and to get attention to issues impacting my community.
What Would You Like Voters To Know About You Personally?
I live and volunteer regularly in Germantown and I love this County. We are blessed to share a community as diverse and prosperous as this. There remains much work to be done, but I am proud to be part of Montgomery County with you all.
