Why Are You Running For Office?

Montgomery County’s best days are ahead of us, but there’s work to do. Families are attracted to our top-notch schools, but we’ve fallen behind in economic development and prosperity for all. As an immigrant, educator, and Board of Education member, I’ve seen how aligning education to talent development builds upward mobility. When we focus on affordability and quality of life, our residents and their children thrive. I’m running to bring accountable leadership, strengthen our schools, grow jobs, and make our county more welcoming for everyone. Together, we can ensure that prosperity allows our families to learn, work, and live here.

What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?

The most important issue in this race is economic development—because it determines whether our children can build their lives here. I see it as a parent: my own kids are starting their careers, and too many young people are leaving because the opportunities aren’t here. I believe a good job is the best social program. We need to make it easier for businesses to launch and scale, invest more intentionally in job growth, and connect our schools to real career pathways. If we get this right, families can stay, we won’t need to raise taxes, and our community remains strong.

What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?

With my lived experience and proven leadership in Montgomery County, I am ready. I came to this country with two suitcases and not much money. I have lived the American dream. I raised my children in Montgomery County and saw how foundational their MCPS education was to their professional future. From parent volunteer to Board of Education president, I’ve worked every level, from classroom to system leadership. I’ve made tough decisions, built consensus, and delivered results, including cutting $18 million in central spending and focusing on outcomes. I understand how policy affects families because I’ve lived it, and I know how to turn that understanding into action.
