Why Are You Running For Office?
I was born and raised in Montgomery County, and I love the state of Maryland. I am running to make a difference, and bring a more younger voice to the Maryland legislature. I want to break through partisan politics, and work towards building a better tomorrow that we can all be proud of.
What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?
Affordability is the top issue facing Marylanders. I’ve heard it across the state, across demographics, it’s too expensive to continue to live in Maryland. Taxes and fees in the state keep rising, and everyone is feeling it. The cost of living keeps going up. The cost of housing, the cost of food, every aspect of living in Maryland is costing more than before. Marylanders are being priced out of our own state. Addressing our affordability crisis is a top concern for my campaign.
What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?
In my career, I’ve worked in a broad range of fields, thanks in part due to temping while in College. I’ve worked in the demanding field of housekeeping (Disney College Program), I’ve worked in human resources, as an attorney’s assistant, for a roofing company, running promotional events, as a contributing journalist, as a landscaper, as a retail manager, as a security guard, and for the last year as a substitute teacher with Montgomery County Public Schools. I believe my wide array of career experience gives me incredibly important life experience to prepare me for the rigor and demands expected as an elected official. I am able to put myself into the shoes of the average Marylander, so empathize and comprehend what they are going through. A leader who can understand their constituents, is a leader than can make a credible difference. Career politicians are out of touch with who they represent, and how it’s their job to help. My previous experiences ground me, and drive my determination to improve Maryland for all of us.
What Would You Like Voters To Know About You Personally?
I have always been community focused. In school, I received recognition for my community service work from the Lions Clubs International for going above and beyond. In College, I volunteered with the newspaper, and with different clubs and organizations in the History Department. As an adult my volunteer work has continued, I dedicate my time to community theatre groups like Rockville Little Theatre, and Rockville Musical Theatre. I’ve been involved with the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, Maryland. I’ve always enjoyed staying busy, and making a real difference in the community.
