Brew House Kentlands has their Grand Opening today (Saturday 3/4/23)!
Located at the former Clear Skies Meadery location: 325 Main Street, Gaithersburg, MD
I went in for their soft opening as they prepared for the full opening to chat with the owners and got some food and drinks.
It’s an amazing open space for individuals or groups of all sizes. Based on the variety of options for drinks as well as a kid friendly atmosphere, it seems like this will be a great spot.
Here is a short video to take a look around the inside and then read on below for the interview and full menus.
Interview with Owners
In between training staff, I sat down with owners Laurie and Kirstie.
What is your inspiration for Brew House Coffee? Why are you opening a new place here?
Laurie: Well, I started my coffee shop in California. It’s in a city called Lodi three years ago, and it’s been really well for me it’s worked out really well. And my daughter asked me if I want to expand and she would run it because she wanted to get into something different than what she’s doing.
So we’ll put it together and she’s gonna run it. So I will live here in a couple years and we’ll be more hands on together but for now, she’ll be the one running it handling it but just I love coffee. She loves coffee. We love to serve people like this. I think that’s the best part of this. So when she asked me to do it, I didn’t even hesitate so that’s great.
It’s a really cool idea that you have coffee and drinks and food – it’s kind of an all times sort of thing instead of just coffee or drinks?
Laurie: We call it a family friendly environment. So we started that in California just so that mom and dad can come in and have wine and beer. Kids can have a smoothie, an Italian soda, or hot chocolate.
It just gives everyone here where it’s not just a place like you said, where people just come and drink wine, or kids aren’t really welcome. So we just call it a family friendly environment where everyone can come on the deck and sit down and have what they like in the evenings or day. It gives us a variety to not just do coffee.
Kirstie: Morning vibes, night vibes, kid vibes, everything
What else will you do?
Laurie: We will also be doing sip and paints, we’re probably going to try to have as much live music as we can.
We’re open to small events, we have a networking thing coming in on the 15th. So we’re open to small gatherings. If not reserve it technically, but we’re open to to allow, you know, enough people to come in here and have little small events.
And then whatever else we can expand into, after we get kind of solid on the food and the coffee and the drinks, then we’ll expand into some other events that that we bring in here.
Great space outside to the farmers market and different stuff, depending on the time of year. How has the community welcomed you?
Laurie: We had quite a community outreach to us through social media or just stopping in and saying we can’t wait. Overwhelming social media presence with this. They can’t wait for us to get here and people poking in and opening the door like are you open yet? Everyone’s just so excited for us to be here. So we’re thrilled she found this spot it seems it was meant to be and we absolutely love it. What we’ve transformed this place into is cool. So we’re really excited.
I love how open it is with lots of space for people to be in different spots
Laurie: Yea, it’s not so stuffy, people can sit here there’s plugs all along the walls and USB ports. You can sit there and do their homework or just sit and relax. We can do eight people here at this table so people can have a large gathering here too. For everybody, whatever works. So we’re excited. Super jazzed.
