Why Are You Running For Office?
I am running to continue my work as a Delegate to advance affordability, accountability, and opportunity. This includes continuing to pursue policies that ease the exorbitant cost of housing, utilities, childcare, and other needs that Maryland families are struggling with. I am also running to continue pushing back against the cruel and unlawful abuses of the Trump administration, and to continue broad, fiscally responsible investments in our values, from education to climate action and beyond.
What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?
The two biggest issues are affordability and the need to defend our democratic institutions and the Rule of Law from the abuses of the Trump administration
What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?
For two decades, I have served as a public official–first as a Gaithersburg city councilmember and now as a State Delegate. I leverage this deep experience and policy expertise along with countless stakeholder relationships to foster trust, develop creative and thoughtful solutions, and deliver real results. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I have become intimately familiar with the intricacies of the state budget, allowing me to help ensure that important investments are made in our community. The best evidence of my ability to serve going forward is what I have been able to do for many years already. I also bring my training and experience as an attorney, adjunct professor, and activist–not to mention my most important role, being a father.
What Would You Like Voters To Know About You Personally?
I am far less interested in showboating or symbolic victories and am much more interested in digging in and doing the hard work of understanding budgets and complex policies to find real solutions. As the saying goes, I am a work horse, not a show horse. I also like to have the occasional adventure. Last year I went skydiving with the U.S. Army Golden Knights!
