NEW: Casey Anderson Made Political Contributions To Some County Council Members Determining His Fate – Council Has Closed Meeting Discussing Anderson Shortly After He Led Meeting As Normal – 9/24

Some new developments in the Casey Anderson story since our last piece on it where Casey Anderson (Montgomery County Planning Board Chair) admitted to and apologized for having a full bar and making drinks and distributing alcohol to groups of people in county offices after hours.

Anderson Chairs Meeting Right Before Closed Session To Discuss His Conduct Now That Investigation Is Public

WJLA reported on the Planning Board meeting that

“most people would never know Board Chair Casey Anderson was in hot water.”

The article also mentions the an M-NCPPC document regarding punishments for M-NCPPC employees in recent years:

“A confidential source provided 7News with a copy of a color-coded spreadsheet that lists more than 60 M-NCPPC employees written up, suspended, demoted, and terminated for using drugs and/or alcohol between 2012 and 2022. M-NCPPC provided the document to the Montgomery County Council, which is tasked with determining Anderson’s fate.”

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the piece talks about the closed session shortly after and the process related to planning board chair:

“The Montgomery County Council appointed Anderson back in 2014, and in turn, oversees him in an official capacity. On Thursday afternoon, Anderson happened to speak before the council on an unrelated matter. Shortly thereafter, the nine-member governing body held a closed session meeting. Sources tell 7News the meeting centered on what to do with Anderson.

Multiple sources tell 7News that they wonder if the county council, which frequently interacts with Anderson at ribbon cuttings, professional conferences, and council meetings, will provide “special treatment” not typically afforded in the workplace to “the average Joe.””
