Frederick controlled much of the early momentum, holding an 11–9 lead after the first quarter and extending its advantage to 28–24 by halftime. Jonah Wertlieb kept Magruder within striking distance, leading the Colonels with 12 first-half points, including four shots from beyond the arc.

The second half brought more intensity. Frederick leaned heavily on 6-foot-6 standout Osborne Ehana, who dominated the paint with powerful dunks and polished footwork. Ehana capped the third quarter by sinking two free throws at the buzzer, his 22nd point, to give the Cadets a 44–42 lead entering the final frame.
The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle. With 2:53 remaining, Magruder briefly took a 51–50 lead, but Frederick quickly answered and later converted free throws with 11 seconds left to move ahead 54–51.

Magruder’s final possession of regulation delivered the game’s defining moment. With just 4.6 seconds remaining, the Colonels inbounded the ball and found Alan Burt in the corner. Burt rose and drilled a clutch three-pointer as the buzzer sounded, tying the game at 54 and sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Overtime turned into a defensive grind. Magruder’s Steve Magnon scored the only field goal of the extra period and added four free throws to give the Colonels a 60–54 cushion with 10 seconds remaining. Frederick managed a late three-pointer with 2.6 seconds left, but a frantic scramble on the ensuing inbound sealed the outcome as time expired.
In a game packed with momentum swings and clutch performances, Magruder emerged victorious with a thrilling 60–57 overtime win.
