Why Are You Running For Office?
District 7, like all districts in the county, lack representation
What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?
I am running for County Council because Montgomery County is in crisis, and the people of District 7 deserve a voice that will fight for them. The current council member has failed at her job through incompetence and neglect. For 4 years, misguided policies, bureaucratic overreach, and political complacency have eroded our quality of life in District 7โbusinesses are leaving, taxes and costs are rising, schools are declining, and public safety is being ignored. I refuse to stand by while the county I grew up in falls into stagnation and dysfunction. As an economist, intelligence analyst, entrepreneur, and lifelong resident, I am stepping forward to restore accountability, defend working families, and bring common-sense leadership back to our local government. This campaign is about reclaiming our community and ensuring Montgomery County once again becomes a place where families, businesses, and neighborhoods can thrive. #TakeBackMoco #LetsGetOurCountyBack
What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?
I’m prepared for this role because I bring something the current County Council has largely lackedโreal-world economic experience in both public and private sectors and the willingness to challenge the failed policies that have put Montgomery County on the wrong track with common sense solutions. As an economist and entrepreneur, I understand how government decisions affect jobs, investment, and the cost of living. I’ve spent my career analyzing budgets, markets, fiscal, monetary and public policy outcomes, and I know how to identify when government is wasting taxpayer money or creating policies that hurt working families.
Unlike many career politicians, I don’t view this position as a stepping stoneโI view it as a responsibility to fix what’s broken. I grew up here and have watched as poor leadership allowed rising costs, declining schools, and an increasingly hostile environment for businesses. My background gives me the tools to hold government accountable, challenge bad policies, and fight for practical solutions that restore Montgomery County as a place where families and businesses can succeed again.
What Would You Like Voters To Know About You Personally?
That Harold Maldonado is not linked to any lobby group, special interest group, or to any elite business groups. I’m one of you, a tax-paying, law-abiding resident who is sick and tired of the incompetence and outright malfeasance of County Council writ large, including the incumbent Dawn Luedtke, who do not for us, the residents. I want voters to know that this campaign is deeply personal to me. I grew up in Montgomery County and care deeply about the future of the community that shaped me. Like many residents, I have watched the county change over the years destroy the quality of life in our communities. That is what motivated me to step forward and run. Professionally, I am an economist with over 20+ years of professional experience and an entrepreneur, but at my core I am someone who believes in hard work, accountability, and giving back to the community. I understand the challenges families and businesses face because I experience them myself. High property taxes, problems paying utility bills, I believe government should work for the peopleโnot the other way around.
Most importantly, I want voters to know that I will always speak honestly, stand by my principles, and fight for policies that start fixing our schools, support small businesses, and restore the quality of life that once made Montgomery County one of the best places in the country to live and raise a family.
