Why Are You Running For Office?
I am running for Montgomery County Register of Wills to bring my 30 years of legal experience in wills, trusts, estates, and family law to the service of our residents. Having spent decades advising families through complex transitions, I understand that this office is a vital resource that demands both professional excellence and deep empathy. My goal is to maintain the legacy of compassion and professionalism established by Joe Griffin. By combining my specialized legal expertise with a proven record of community leadership, I will ensure this office remains accessible, efficient, and supportive for every Montgomery County family.
What Is The Biggest Issue Facing Voters In This Race?
The most signficant issue facing voters in this race is who they should elect to continue Joe Griffin’s legacy in the Office of the Register of Wills. For decades, Joe Griffin successfully worked to make this office recognized as the best in the State of Maryland. The next Register of Wills needs to continue that level of excellence in providing the most compassionate services to the County’s residents. The next Register of Wills also needs a vision of how to constructively engage our neighbors to better understand what the Register of Wills does and how important it is to have a knowledge of estate planning and the probate process. Voters should know that the next Register of Wills is committed to service and community education and engagement.
What Experience Best Prepares You For This Role?
With 30 years in private practice specializing in wills, trusts, and estates, I possess the technical expertise to navigate complex probate matters. My decades of direct experience working with the Office of the Register of Wills provides an “insider’s” perspective on improving public service.Beyond my legal practice, serving as a Chief of Staff for a Montgomery County Councilmember at Large and leadership as Chair of the Committee for Montgomery, President of the Montgomery County Civic Federation, and President of the Silver Spring Town Center reflects a deep commitment to our community. I offer a unique blend of professional mastery, proven administrative leadership, and commuity engagement.
What Would You Like Voters To Know About You Personally?
As a candidate for Montgomery County Register of Wills, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, efficient, and accessible service to the public. With deep local roots and extensive leadershipโincluding serving as a Chief of Staff in the Montgomery County Council and Maryland General AssemblyโI bring the legal expertise and administrative experience necessary to modernize this vital office. My career is defined by a lifelong commitment to our community, from founding the Silver Spring Blues Festival to my advocacy for environmental conservation and veterans’ affairs. I will ensure the probate process is transparent and supportive, protecting your family’s legacy with professional integrity and a focus on equity for all residents. I am a lifelong Democrat and have proudly served as a Delegate for Joe Biden to the National Democratic Convention, as a member of the Greater Silver Spring Democratic Club and Maryland District 20 Democratic Caucus and as a Montgomery County Democratic Precinct Chair in Silver Spring.
