Students from high schools county-wide were honored tonight at the Montgomery County Public Schools and Montgomery College 2023 Dual Enrollment Recognition Ceremony, held at the Universities at Shady Grove. The ceremony paid tribute to more than 270 high school seniors who will graduate with Associate Degrees from Montgomery College on Friday, May 19. They will receive their high school diplomas a few weeks later.

The MCPS and Montgomery College Early College and Dual Enrollment programs are offered at each MC campus, and provide qualified students the opportunity of earning an Associate Degree in a specific content area. Participating students complete their 11th and 12th grade years of high school while simultaneously completing their first two years of college as either a full time or part time MC student.

Leaders in education in the county were on the dais to honor the students, including Dr. Sanjay Rai, Maryland Acting Secretary of Higher Education; Dr. Monifa McKnight, MCPS Superintendent of Schools; and, Dr. Jermaine Williams, MC President. Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando closed the ceremony with congratulatory remarks.
