Dr. Josh Funk turned a single physical therapy clinic into a 15-location regional company without losing the vision that made the original practice work.

The founder and CEO of Rehab 2 Perform joined Moderately Mic’d to discuss the personal and entrepreneurial journey behind that growth, from the earliest version of the company through the systems and leadership decisions required to scale.

Funk explained how his background as an athlete and physical therapist shaped the founding idea, and when he realized the business could grow beyond a single practice. The conversation covered what continues to motivate him as an entrepreneur and which personal traits helped him build the company.

One major subject was the transition from physical therapist and founder to CEO. As Rehab 2 Perform grew, Funk had to learn when to delegate and how to avoid becoming the company’s bottleneck. The episode explored how he decided what should be standardized across locations and where individual teams need autonomy. These are critical questions for any business trying to maintain culture while expanding.

Funk also discussed investing in systems before the company appeared to need them, a decision that shaped Rehab 2 Perform’s ability to scale without sacrificing quality.

The conversation covered the company’s use of technology and artificial intelligence in patient care. Funk described where AI can help healthcare delivery and where people remain essential, a distinction that matters as more practices adopt automation.

For desk-based workers, Funk outlined common physical problems caused by prolonged sitting and offered a simple movement people can do during the workday. He also explained why physical therapy is usually reactive rather than preventive, and what would need to change for that to shift.

Jason discussed his own experience with Rehab 2 Perform, both while returning from injuries and while bringing his daughter there for treatment.
