Since so much is going on in the County, I’ve decided to do what I hope will be weekly roundups of all the most important going ons across all local government.
The election is coming up and we will have some coverage on that separately – this will be about what is going on in government now. I will say I suggest you make a plan for how you will vote now to make sure it happens!

On Tuesday, County Council announced Anderson’s punishments

Friday Anderson responded to the email comments
Bethesda Beat interviewed Anderson:
“Anderson said in an interview Friday that the alleged comments in the email “are false” and that “many of the “specifics” are incorrect. He added that he would not be resigning as chair of the Planning Board.

He believes the results of an investigation by county officials into the email’s contents will exonerate him.”

State Audit reveals 2 MCPS Employees investigated for embezzlement
Massive news came on Wednesday 10/5 that 2 MCPS employees were being accused of potential embezzlement. Bethesda Beat reported the previous link and also followed up with MCPS response to it.
Montgomery Perspective also wrote about it.

Not the first time MCPS has had issues with investigations.
Questions arose with previous bus camera deal because it was profitable for the company but not for MCPS.
Superintendent Dr. McKnight and Union Clash
As if this week wasn’t already busy enough, word leaked Thursday 10/6 that McKnight sent out an email to employees blaming MCEA (the teacher’s union) for a breakdown in negotiations.

New Site “Montgomery Perspective”
Veteran local news writer Adam Pagnucco has started up what looks to be a really good analysis and news blog.
