Most office holiday parties follow the same script: drinks, snacks, and people standing with the same handful of coworkers they already eat lunch with. TeamCulture YOUR Way, a Bethesda team building company, designs its events around the opposite idea. Everyone actually gets to know their colleagues across departments, breaking down silos and improving engagement.

As businesses plan their holiday celebrations and 2027 company kickoffs, TeamCulture YOUR Way is pitching its customized experiences as a more impactful alternative to the standard happy hour, office party or group outing.

How the format works

The core of a TeamCulture YOUR Way event is what the company calls a “rotating teams” structure. Instead of putting everyone in one room and hoping people mingle, TeamCulture YOUR Way pre-assigns teams of employees from different departments, runs a round of interactive activities, then reshuffles.

Here is the company’s own example. A group of 48 employees splits into eight teams of six for five rounds of activities. After each round, everyone moves to a new team made up of colleagues they have not yet been paired with. Participants score points both individually and as teammates, with one grand champion at the end. When the dust settles, each person will have worked directly with 25 of their 47 coworkers.

The math works out: each new grouping adds five new teammates, and five rounds means exposure to 25 people.

No two events are the same

Every TeamCulture YOUR Way event is personalized to each organization’s dynamics, goals and workplace culture, the company says. Its menu of standard activities, listed on its website, includes The Big Breakout, The Twisted Trivia Tournament, Lively Learning, Super Soda Sell and Innovative Icebreakers, among other offerings. Clients also have the option to design an event from scratch.

“We don’t do one-size-fits-all team building,” says Daniel Weintraub, the company’s founder and a Rockville native. “It’s 2026, and the data shows traditional employee engagement initiatives are often ineffective at helping people feel connected to their coworkers. That is directly hurting employee productivity, retention, morale, and company profit.”

One client quoted on the company’s website described it this way: “TeamCulture YOUR Way activities feel super personalized with inside references/nods to our work and dynamics. That makes everything more fun, sparking ongoing connections, jokes and conversations.”

In person or on Zoom

Events run in person or remotely, so teams spread across offices or working from home can spend time with each other. Weintraub describes the approach as “inclusive for everyone,” “built to connect colleagues for the long-term” and “designed to match each group’s unique culture.”
