In order for people to get on the ballot who are not in one of the two primary parties in Maryland they need to collect signatures.
This is a very long time consuming process as you need to collect over 1000 signatures in your district.

Paula Bienenfeld is running as an Independent for County Council District 4 and submitted 1350+ signatures (needing 1,019).
Team Bienenfield Thinks They Have Enough
They have now appealed a second time with the first appeal getting them 8 signatures closer to getting on the ballot.

The court case will be heard tomorrow Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 10:30 AM the Circuit Court.
