Early voting for the November 3 general election starts Thursday, October 22, at 14 early voting centers across Montgomery County, according to the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County. Centers are open every day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Thursday, October 29, including the weekend.
Voters can use any of the 14 centers, not just the one nearest their home. At an early voting center, eligible residents can also register and vote the same day with an approved proof of address, according to the League. Voters who requested a mail-in ballot can still vote in person, either by cancelling it first or by casting a provisional ballot.
The Montgomery County Board of Elections lists all 14 centers with maps and posts wait times during early voting. The League’s announcement follows in full.
From the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County
In-person Early Voting for the General Election begins Thursday, October 22 and continues every day from 7 am to 8 pm through Thursday, October 29.
Montgomery County voters can vote at any of 14 Early Voting Centers across the county. Vote where it is most convenient to your home or work. Text EV and your ZIP code to 77788 to find the closest Center.
Can’t or don’t want to drive? Check the address of the Early Voting Center closest to you and use the Ride On Bus trip planner for bus routes and schedules to get you there.
In addition to casting your ballot, you can do the following at an Early Voting Center:
- Register AND vote on the same day using an approved proof of address (click on The Registration Process; scroll down to the bottom of the When may I apply to register to vote? section.)
- Update your address or party affiliation if you are already registered.
- Drop off a completed Mail-in Ballot.
You may bring printed election information — including the League’s Voter’s Guide, or a print-out from VOTE411 — with you when you vote. You may use your cell phone only for translation, identification, voting selections or to take a picture of your ballot (for personal use).
Note that you may cancel your mail-in ballot and vote a regular ballot in person by returning a cancellation form from the Montgomery County Board of Elections. Go to the mail-in voting webpage and scroll down to the Cancel Mail-In Ballot for the directions for completing and returning the mail-in ballot cancellation form. If you requested a mail-in ballot but want to vote a regular ballot in person on Election Day (November 3), the Board of Elections must receive your cancellation form no later than October 29.
If you choose to vote in person rather than with your mail-in ballot, but are not able to complete the cancellation form on time, you may still vote in person, but you will be required to vote via a provisional ballot.
