MCPS updates metrics on hybrid in person schooling groups at BOE meeting

During the 10/27/2020 Board of Education Meeting, MCPS outlined metrics for group return to hybrid in person schooling. Here is their chart:

What is interesting is that DHHS actually just updated their new dashboard to show these exact criteria highlighted 5, 10, 15 Etc cases per 100k. As you can see in the red line here, Montgomery County has not had less than 5 cases per day per 100k average since early April.
That was long before the big surge, and never reached again even with 100% shut down before entering phase 1.

So what does this mean?

  • Will only Special Needs be considered until after the pandemic is gone down the line post vaccine?
  • Why didn’t we have this plan in August so that some kids could go in?
  • Also note that even at <5 per 100k or lower there is no indication of a plan at all for full in person which could indicate that any hybrid option would also include online options
