Esther Wells named President of Montgomery County Taxpayers League

The Montgomery County Taxpayers League is pleased to announce the election of its new president, Esther Wells, who began her tenure on April 5th, 2023.

Esther L. Wells is an active Certified Public Accountant in Maryland with over 13 years of experience.  Currently, she leads the State Indirect Tax Department of a multi-billion-dollar enterprise of companies based in Washington, DC, with a proven track record of monetizing multi-million-dollar savings opportunities. 

Esther comes to us with more than six years of experience in Montgomery County, having served as the lead for tax controversy work such as property tax appeals with the MD State Department of Assessment and Taxation, which has generated material tax savings for stakeholders.

Esther received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business. She also has a Master’s degree in Taxation from Northeastern University, D’Amore McKim School of Business.  She is the proud mother of two MCPS students, a 5-year-old and a 10-year-old who has Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The Montgomery County Taxpayers League continues to focus on educating and advocating for county taxpayers. We support appropriate actions to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in the government of Montgomery County and tax equity for Montgomery County taxpayers and communities.
